Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (preferably chuck)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

4 green onions, chopped (whites and greens separated)

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1 tablespoon soy sauce

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon rice vinegar

Salt and pepper to taste

2 cups cooked jasmine rice

1 cup steamed broccoli florets

Sesame seeds for garnish

Additional green onions for garnish

Instructions

Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

Add Aromatics: Stir in the chopped white parts of the green onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté for another 2-3 minutes until fragrant.

Mix the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, gochujang, sesame oil, rice vinegar, salt, and pepper. Pour this mixture over the ground beef in the skillet.

Simmer: Reduce the heat to medium and let it simmer for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the beef evenly.

Prepare Bowls: While the beef simmers, prepare serving bowls with a bed of cooked jasmine rice. Top each bowl with the spicy ground beef mixture and steamed broccoli florets.

Garnish: Sprinkle sesame seeds and the green parts of the chopped green onions over the top for added flavor and crunch.

Serve: Enjoy your Spicy Korean Ground Beef Bowl hot!
