Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Mix until well blended.

Stir in the brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined.

Gently fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using). Be careful not to over-mix; it’s okay if there are a few lumps.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into bars.

Enjoy your delightful Chocolate Chip Banana Bars warm or at room temperature!
